A Season Full of Gratitude: Catania Oils Celebrates Community, Tradition, & Giving Back

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this year, Catania Oils has much to be grateful for – our people, our community, and the traditions that unite us both inside and outside our walls. November reminded us that our core value of “We Are Family” extends far beyond our employee base. It reaches the neighborhoods we serve, the organizations we support, and the relationships we’ve nurtured over four generations.

Our team recently celebrated the completion of a successful employee-led food drive through Catania Cares, our philanthropic arm benefiting Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry of Devens. Over the past week, employees generously contributed 67 pounds of food along with $170 in cash donations that will directly support families in need. In addition to employee contributions, Catania Oils donated more than 500 gallons of cooking oil, ensuring that Loaves & Fishes has additional resources during one of the busiest times of the year.

That same spirit was on display at one of our most anticipated in-house traditions: Catania Oils’ annual Turkey Fry, which started more than 20 years ago. This year’s celebration included 120 employees working the 1st and 2nd shifts who enjoyed a Thanksgiving lunch, and 40 team members from the 3rd shift enjoyed a special early-morning Thanksgiving breakfast. A volunteer crew of 25 employees from Sales, Customer Service, Finance, and HR worked behind the scenes to fry turkeys, serve classic side dishes, and create a warm, inviting atmosphere for our entire workforce. From stuffing and mashed potatoes to corn, cranberry sauce, wings, and desserts provided by Johnson’s Restaurant & Dairy Bar, the day truly felt like a family celebration!

The Turkey Fry also gave us the chance to reconnect with familiar faces. We warmly welcomed back former blow-molder operator Steve Rogers, one of many past employees who return year after year simply because this tradition feels like home. His visit underscored what our president Joseph Basile shared in his remarks: that this longstanding event isn’t just about food – it’s about the sense of belonging that defines Catania Oils’ culture.

We also acknowledged another milestone at the Turkey Fry: our 125th year in business. Every attendee received a commemorative ornament honoring our company’s remarkable history. It served as a reminder that our strength lies in our people – past and present – whose dedication has fueled more than a century and a quarter of growth, innovation, and community.

Catania employees smiling around a portable fire pit at the 2025 Turkey FryWhether we’re lending a hand to local families through Loaves & Fishes or gathering together for a meal that feels like home, this season has shown us what matters most. Gratitude. Service. Tradition. Family. And the unwavering belief that when we show up for one another – in our workplace and beyond it – we make our community stronger.

From all of us at Catania Oils, thank you for being part of our extended family. We wish you a warm and wonderful holiday season!
