AYER, MA… The Basile family, owners of Catania Oils, will host its annual Basile Family Memorial Golf Tournament at The International Golf Club and Resort in Bolton, MA on Monday, June 24, 2019 to benefit the Jimmy Fund. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the event, making it one of Jimmy Fund Golf’s longest running tournaments.
Since 1989, after family member Joseph D. Basile lost his battle with Leukemia, the Basiles invite friends, employees and business associates to come together for a day of golf to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. To date, more than $700,000 has been raised to support these institutions and the family hopes to once again surpass its fundraising and attendance goal at this year’s event.
“The support my family has received over the past 30 years to honor our Uncle Joe’s memory has been overwhelming,” said Joseph Basile, President of Catania Oils. “Knowing that we are celebrating his memory while raising funds to help other families fight this devastating disease and supporting research to find a cure, is particularly gratifying.”
100% of the proceeds from this event will support adult and pediatric cancer research and care at the world-renowned Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Catania Oils, the driving force behind the event’s success, has a motto of “one more dollar than the year before.” This slogan has helped them consistently increase their fundraising for the Jimmy Fund and the patients and families who benefit from their work.
“The impact that the Joseph D. Basile Golf Tournament has had on Dana-Farber is immense,” said Amy McCallum, director of Jimmy Fund Golf. “The money they’ve raised has provided our doctors and researchers with vital funds needed to both treat the patients of today while researching the cures of tomorrow.”
The tournament is a Shotgun Four Person Scramble played on both of The International’s award-winning 18-hole golf courses. Breakfast and dinner will be served
in the scenic Grand Ballroom and golfers will enjoy a BBQ lunch right on the course. Prizes will be awarded for closest to the pin, longest drive and hole-in-one. An opportunity drawing and a silent auction featuring one-of-a-kind items and experiences will be available throughout the day.
